Attention parents and students . . . "hear something, see something, say something!" #HPSLions

Red Zone basketball student section club sign-ups are complete. Over 190 MS/HS students have signed-up. Because of the manufacturing delays for t-shirts, the group will be doing a theme dress each game instead of ordering shirts. Tonight’s (11/4) theme is RED OUT! Be there, BE LOUD, Be proud! Let’s meet Mr. Parks’ challenge, and fill the student section with a sea of RED! Friday’s Red Zone theme is “jersey night.”
Don’t forget, you may pick up your RedZone pass from Coach Womack. The pass entitles you to admission for a dollar and an ice cream for a dollar. You must have the pass on you to get these perks. GO LIONS! #InTheZone #GoBIGRed

In recognition of Native American Heritage Month, the Howe Johnson O' Malley Program will host a Native American Heritage Cultural Day on November 18, 2021 and events at our Parent Involvement night from 5-8 pm. We are also planning a JOM Field Trip to the new Choctaw Nation Cultural Center (https://choctawculturalcenter.com), Native American interactive book reports, and more. More details will be shared soon.
Our Howe Native American students represent eight different tribes . . . Choctaw, Cherokee, Osage, Mississippi Band of Choctaw, Absentee-Shawnee, Chickasaw, Muscogee (Creek), and Osage.
And of course, Oklahoma is home to 39 diverse tribal nations—many of which were forcibly removed to this area. You can access current information directly from each tribe via our clickable list at www.okhistory.org/indigenous.

You may have to travel to three different locations to find this busy intern. This week’s Howe Intern of the week is Timothy Wallis. He is a junior at Howe High School and works as an intern for Long Lake Resort in Poteau, the Heavener Runestone Park in Heavener, and the Janet Huckabee Nature Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Timothy loves being outdoors and has been enjoying his three internship assignments. Each internship opportunity is preparing Timothy for his future goal of becoming a Forest Ranger after high school graduation.
