The Howe Lions held their basketball camp this week for 3rd-8th grade boys! Here’s a message from Coach Greg Nichols, “Thank you to the 43 young men that attended basketball camp this week. I hope they had fun and learned something at the same time. Thank you to their parents for letting them attend.
Thanks to the high school team and Coach Womack for all your help. Also thanks to Leflore County Recycling Holly Jeff Cooper for sponsoring the camp t-shirts!
Have a great Summer!” #HPSLions

8th, 9th, and 10th graders' parents are able to contact Oklahoma's Promise to obtain paper applications or ask any questions about applying for Oklahoma's Promise. However, it is CRUCIAL that 10th grade parents apply (if they have not already) before the June 30th deadline! Although one of the requirements is that the household income be $55,000 or less, the application process is FREE. 10th grade parents should consider applying for this opportunity as it could mean free tuition if they qualify and their child plans to attend a public college or university in the state of Oklahoma. Seniors diplomas and final transcripts are ready to be picked up starting Tuesday, May 28. Seniors are required to pay any outstanding bills in order to get their diplomas and a signature is required. #HPSLions

Over 60 4th-9th grade girls attended the Howe Lady Lion Basketball Camp on May 20-22! “Once again we had a bunch of young basketball girls eager to learn about basketball! I have been blessed to have been at Howe, and I would say that our camps have been going on for right at 20 years... Each year, I am amazed at what kids can achieve in just 3 days! Thank you to the parents who brought the girls this week! I appreciate it very much! I also want to thank Mike Womack, The Howe Lady Lion Basketball girls, Rachel Krebbs and Peggy Wright, and our School Administration for working and making our camp a Success! Great start to our Summer!” - Coach Chris Brown #HPSLions

“Not your grandpa’s FARM TRUCK anymore!” Over the past two years, the Howe FFA students have been learning how to apply their Ag Mechanic skills through a hands-on project truck! This 1959 Chevy truck was donated to the program by Middle School Teacher Paula Decker. It belonged to her late husband Ed. The students will be showcasing the truck at next week’s FFA banquet on Thursday, May 9 at 7 pm at The Warehouse. Howe Public Schools established their FFA program in 1950. In 1959 (the year model of this truck), 100% of all the boys in Howe HS were enrolled in Ag! Howe continues to have an-award winning FFA program, and this truck build is just one example of the numerous creative and exemplary projects under the advisement of Mr. James Marshall. Howe Superintendent, Mr. Scott Parks has also been assisting with this class over the past two years. Don’t miss this year’s banquet to learn more about this amazing project. #HPSLions #HoweFFA

Representatives from the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma presented Choctaw Honor Cords to our Choctaw graduating seniors. Fourteen of our 40 seniors are Choctaw. David Billy, Career Counselor with Career Development and Katie Herr, Success Coach with the College Freshman Year Initiative, visited with the group today about the numerous opportunities for scholarships and college assistance, and they also shared numerous resources that can benefit our graduating seniors! We are very appreciative to the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma for their ongoing support of our Choctaw students. Our students will be wearing their honor cords with pride as they graduate on Friday, May 10 at 7 pm. (The majority of our Choctaw seniors were involved in extracurricular activities today and are not pictured.) #HPSLions
