Yesterday, Mrs. Kris Rudy & Mrs. Sharon Hyde attended an Autism Conference in OKC featuring world-renowned speaker Temple Grandin.
Mrs. Rudy and Mrs. Hyde learned how they can:
Create a learning environment to accommodate those who think differently;
Distinguish between voluntary behaviors and involuntary behaviors;
Identify ways of intervention for those newly diagnosed;
Review methods to assist the older child and Adult to form social relationships;
Recognize the early signs and symptoms of autism;
Identify how autism affects the family;
Design a custom intervention program;
Distinguish autism myths and misconceptions from facts;
Describe how sensory processing deficits impact a child’s daily life;
Discuss three subtypes of sensory modulation disorder and identify tools and strategies to assist each subtype;
Review the relationship between sensory responses and effective participation in school, home and community;
Discover helpful guidelines and strategies to enhance social and emotional well-being of their child and/or student.
Mrs. Rudy & Mrs. Hyde both agreed, it was one of the best PD conferences they've attended. Kuddos to these teachers for their commitment to provide the very best learning opportunities for our students at Howe Public Schools.

Congratulations to the HS & MS Archery teams! They competed in the 2019 OKNASP East State Shoot Tier 2 yesterday at Tulsa. The high school team placed 3rd out of 28 and the middle school team placed 21st out of 32. #HPSLions
