Howe FFA Members hosted a luncheon Tuesday, Aug 15th for Administrators, Counselors, and the Technology Director to thank them for their continued support and present the diversity and importance of Agriculture within the Howe FFA. These Howe FFA Officers prepared presentations to inform of the many different areas and interests served, and opportunities after graduation through scholarships, competitions, and leadership training. They will also be presenting to their peers and underclassmen as classes resume.

The Howe Public Schools Board of Education and Administration have made the decision to continue providing FREE meals to all students for the 2023-24 school year. Howe Public Schools will be subsidizing the cost of the school lunch program for full priced meals. We still encourage all Howe families to complete a Free and Reduced-Price School Meals Application to assist in determining our school poverty rate for this school year. This rate has a direct impact on many of our funding sources. Lunch forms will be available during the Back To School Open House on Tuesday, Aug 15 from 5-8 pm and at each office. #HPSLions

Lady Lions softball finished in a three way tie for 1st place in the Big 8 Conference Tournament on Friday. At the conclusion of round robin play Howe, Westville, and Vian all had 3-1 records. Congratulations Lady Lions. #HPSLions

Howe Public Schools kicked off its 120th year today! Howe Schools was established in 1904. Yes, you read that right -- before statehood! This year's district-wide theme is, "Growing, Building, and Learning Together!" That's something HPS has been doing well for a really long time! Our staff reported back today, and our students start their first day of class on Thursday, August 17. Howe has seen growth each year for the past 25 years, and this year is no different. We will be welcoming 695 PK-12th grade students on Thursday, this is our biggest enrollment in school history! This number is a testament to the wonderful things that are happening at Howe Public Schools. This morning, many of our staff members were recognized for their continuous years of service with VISA card rewards. There will be several individual posts on each level of recognition coming soon. The Professional Development activities today were focused on, “How to effectively “grow” positive relationships with the students we serve.” The instructional staff enjoyed a ride on the schools’ new charter bus, donated by Ronny and Brenda Blake. The extended Blake family are at the heart of our theme this year, and have been instrumental in “growing and building” and providing for our students’ and staff’s needs is so many ways. We are so very appreciative of their support! This morning, our staff also enjoyed a team-building activity and a panel talk from four of our staff members focusing on “growing and cultivating” positive relationships. It has been a great day to be a Howe Lion, and we cannot wait to welcome back our students on Thursday! Don’t forget to stop by tomorrow’s Open House/Back To School Night from 5-8 pm.
