The Class 4A Slowpitch Regional is scheduled for Friday, April 28 at Oktaha at 1 pm. The Class 4A Regional Softball Tournament at Oktaha has been moved back to Friday due to the heavy rain in the area. Game times Friday will remain the same. Tickets for the event must be purchased online through the OSSAA GoFan website. There is no cash option. #HHSLions

Athletic physicals will be given on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in the HS Gym lobby beginning at 9:00 AM. This will be for student/athletes entering grades 4-12 next school year. The cost will be $10. Athletic packets will be handed out this week. #HHSLions

If you are interested in taking the summer driver education class. There will be a sign-up sheet in the admin office TUESDAY morning Apr 25th at 8:10 am. (YOU WILL NEED TO SEE JORDEN, NOT DORA!) The sign-up sheet will close when the class is full or by next Monday the 1st at 12 noon. IF YOU DO NOT FILL THE SIGN-UP SHEET OUT CORRECTLY YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE CLASS.
If you make the class, you will receive an email informing you that you have made the class. You must respond to the email in a timely manner or you will be dropped.
Classes (CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION) will start on Monday, May 8th and run till Thursday the 10th from 8:00 am till 3:00 pm. The driving schedule will be assigned in class and will begin the week after the classroom instruction.
YOU MUST PAY FOR THE CLASS IN FULL WHEN SIGNING UP!
THE COST IS $75.00. ONCE CLASS STARTS, PAYMENT IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
This class is a first come first serve basis. The first 15 PAYING students will have priority.
YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING TO QUALIFY FOR THE CLASS.
1. BE 15 YEARS OLD
2. BE IN HIGH SCHOOL. NOT 8TH GOING TO 9TH.
3. BE ABLE TO PASS AN EYE EXAM
4. YOU MUST ATTEND EVERY CLASS SESSION THE FULL TIME! AN ABSENCE WILL RESULT IN A FAILING GRADE. YOU WILL ONLY BE EXCUSED FOR AN EMERGENCY.
If you are planning a vacation OR having to be gone the week after school is out, you probably should not take the class.
If you do not get into this class the next one offered by the school will be in August. The sign-up for it will be announced at the beginning of school.
Your other options are a Parent taught class (you can find it online) or a driving academy. There is one located in Poteau.

State testing continues this week with 4th through 8th grade testing. It is so important that your child be at school during this time and is on time as well. We are already have to do makeup tests due to absences. If your child is absent, they have to take the tests they missed before they can go back to testing with their classmates. Please make every effort to see that your child is at school, has had a good night's sleep and eats a good breakfast.

Congratulations! Howe Sophomore, Micah Davidson was selected from the Choctaw Nation Youth Outreach Dept to travel with a youth delegation to represent CNO at the Okla Chahta Gathering in Bakersfield, CA. She will leave on May 5.
Micah Davidson is the 15-year-old daughter of Jennifer and Michael Davidson. She is the current District 4 Junior Miss, and has served in that position for the past two years.
Micah is a 2022 Poteau Regional FFA Speech winner in plant science, and FFA Area Speech qualifier. She is a Choctaw STAR student, JOM academic incentive participant, and on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. Micah was a member of the 8th/9th grade academic district runner up team, the 2021 FFA opening/closing ceremony team placing first, and 2021 state qualifier with FFA opening/closing team. She is a member of the Howe Lady Lion softball team, participates in the Gifted and Talented program, and the Howe FFA officer team.
She is a member of Faith Community Church of the Nazarene 356 Youth Group, and a member of the Yvnnvsh Homma senior division stickball team. Micah enjoys raising her three hens, studying astronomy with her father, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoys sharing her culture and heritage with others as well as participating in stickball, language, and social dancing programs. She serves as the Howe Youth Advisory Board chapter secretary.





Mrs. Ford's 4th Grade students had a "sweet" treat yesterday - - a tour of Kopper Kettle Candies! The tour was hosted by Thomas, the 4th generation of the Greer family. They've been making chocolates since 1925! It was a delicious way to spend the morning!
