Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) is a program that helps children who would have received free or reduced-price meals at school if not for the COVID-19 pandemic. As of Sept 17, students who qualified should have received a debit card preloaded with funds that can be used for groceries.
For the 2020-21 school year, school children must meet two important eligibility requirements:
Children must have been enrolled in a school district that participates in a federal meal program where meals are served at a school, and
Children must qualify for free or reduced-price meals based on income and have turned in the free or reduced-priced meals application to school for 2020-21, OR be enrolled in a school that participated in the Community Eligible Provision, Provision 2 or Provision 3 federal program in 2020-21.
There is no application process for these benefits. Families will receive benefits automatically if their school has identified to the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) that a student qualifies.
If your child received virtual instruction in 2020-21, and you believe your child meets the eligibility criteria and you do not receive your card by Oct. 15, 2021, please go to sde.ok.gov/pebt page to fill out an inquiry form. If you believe you did not receive your card due to a change in address, you will need to fill out the inquiry form. The form will become available by Oct. 15.

A student with big goals in mind is Cecilia Velazquez, this week’s Howe Intern of the Week. Cecilia interns for Mrs. Jamie Nobles, Howe 5th Grade Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies teacher. According to Mrs. Nobles, “Cecilia is an amazing intern in my class. She is beautiful inside and out and has made such an impact on my students. She is definitely a big part of our family. Fifth grade rocks!” Cecilia has allowed the internship to influence her on a future career choice. She wants to be an Elementary English teacher. She plans to attend Carl Albert State College and continue to obtain her Education Degree. #HPSLions

Elementary and Middle School Parents and Guardians - In order to keep your children safe, if you are picking them up at the elementary office, please bring your ID with you. We have a lot of students and we do not always recognize everyone that is allowed to pick them up. Also, if someone other than people on your pick up list is to pick up them up, call the office and let us know ahead of time.
