Check out several of our Howe Girls Who Code Club members showing off their new club t-shirts! Howe MS and HS Girls Who Code club has over 60 members and meets weekly. Mrs. Parks is the club Facilitator. They are currently working on a space-based coding project in the Sphero Robotics Mission.
Howe's Girls Who Code members are part of a sisterhood of 90,000 other awesome girls who are using computer science to shape their world. Howe's Girls Who Code Club is working to ensure that women have a greater role in building the technology of the future by teaching our members computer science skills today!
What is Computer Science?
Computer science is the study of all of the different ways computers can be used to make things easier, faster, or more fun. Computer science is used in a ton of fields -- from medicine, to art, to robotics, and media! Coding is writing instructions for a computer in a language it can understand. Coding is just one small part of computer science.
In the Howe Girls Who Code Club, members will be doing more than writing code -- they're going to practice thinking and creating like a computer scientist. Computer scientists are people who study all the different ways that code and computers can be used to create new technology. Just like a computer scientist, our students will try on a bunch of different hats, like Designer, Problem Solver, and Coder!
